Lovely evening with a table of 4. Even with 1 diner being late the staff were very accommodating and friendly and did not rush the service. Food lovely and staff very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu

We visited as a party of 4 and had an absolutely fantastic experience. The food was outstanding and the service was equally impressive. Everything was spot on and we couldn’t fault a thing. The staff were brilliant, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. We would highly recommend.

Perfect gastropub, highly recommended!
Came for dinner with my wife and my 2 year old daughter.
The food was totally amazing, the service really attentive and fast. The nice starters set us up very well for the fabulous main dishes - the lamb loin and the plaice from the specials menu. Even the side dishes were really amazing, including the roast potatoes and tomato salad. The wine list also had some great things to choose from.
Will be definitely coming back when we are in Bath again.

A must visit when you go to Bath. Food is really good and service is just awesome. Worth every penny especially with their Michelin credentials. Starters are good especially the octopus. Main (Monk fish) and side dish which are not in pic are just perfectly flavored with the herbs and spices. Each dish is just different from each other but goes well together.

Delish! We aren't from England so unfamiliar with a Sunday Roast, but WOW we sure got it right at The Chequers. It was excellent, can't rave enough. We had reservations but it was quiet while we were there. Staff was attentive but let us be. Highly recommend.

THE BEST FOOD EVER!! The Sunday roast lamb shoulder with all the toppings was the most delightful food experience. The staff were kind, lovely, and fast! This restaurant alone warrants a trip to Bath, especially on Sunday for their roasts. I came for dinner close to my birthday, and the Chequers staff were so thoughtful in wishing me happy birthday with a hand-written birthday card and free drink!! I’d recommend making a reservation since this incredible spot gets busy! Do NOT miss out on the Chequers!!!

The food was genuinely very good. We had both a starter and a main and really enjoyed them. However, the dessert was a big disappointment. We ordered the Burnt Basque cheesecake, but it wasn’t sweet at all. It honestly tasted like eating a block of plain cheese, with no sweetness whatsoever.
Aside from that, the atmosphere is lovely and the place is dog friendly, which we really appreciated. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the savoury food was great. But if you are thinking of ordering the cheesecake, I’d think twice.

First off, we’ve been to Chequers about 15 times in the past year, mostly for the Sunday roast. We love Sunday roasts and have toured lots of the Bath pubs and restaurants to find the ‘best’. Chequers had the best roast for us.
We just had another roast here today and noticed that the menu has changed. Apparently the head chef and manager recently left and the new chef has made a few changes.
To cut a long story short, the roast isn’t as good now. The beef was overcooked, there was far less of it, and the roast veg was pretty average. The gravy was watery (and now charge you £1.50 for extra gravy!), and the cheesy leeks aren’t as nice as the old cauliflower cheese.
It’s still a decent roast, just no longer the best in Bath for us. And for £19.75 for the beef, it’s expensive. I’m not sure we’ll be back

We had the Sunday roast at the chequers, it was lovely. The food was really good at a competitive price. The staff were all very pleasant. We will definitely be going back.

We had a lovely dinner at The Chequers. I ordered the heritage tomato with pumpkin pesto and torched mozzarella as my starter and for my main course I had the pan seared fillet of hake, which was delicious. The sticky toffee pudding was the perfect end to our meal. Our bill for two people came to 100 pounds. I will recommend this restaurant to all my friends visiting Bath.

Visit our sister restaurant: a neighbourhood steakhouse in the heart of Bath. Properly aged cuts over open flame, an unfussy room, and a glass of something good.
